Hadlow Down Festival 2017  has ended!

Hadlow Down Festival 2017 is over!
The Hadlow Down Festival 2017 has now ended but we do hope that you enjoyed the events and activities that the village has laid on over the summer.
We would love to hear what you thought of the Festival. What did you think of the range of events on offer, were there any benefits in holding a Festival for the village/community. Would you like to have another Festival in future years? Please let us know your views. You can send us your feedback by commenting on our Facebook page or downloading a very short survey on the website and e-mailing it to deniseleary86@gmail.com or dropping it in the door at Providence House, Main Road, Hadlow Down or you can just e-mail me your comments at the latest by Friday 6th October. I will be collating all feedback we receive and hope to report back to you in the parish magazine with our findings, so please do share your thoughts and views on the Festival. It will help us in deciding about future events.
Thank you for all your support for the Festival, for the Event organisers, the volunteers and everyone who participated in the events. It wouldn’t have been possible without such fabulous community spirit! Well done Hadlow Down!

The official opening of the new Junior football pitch has been postponed from September 9th to a later date in the summer of 2018 ( TBC).
The exceptionally dry weather during June and July resulted in poor grass growth and this led to a lengthy delay in the contractors being able to complete the final stages for applying a heavy sand dressing, final seeding and  fertiliser.  With the pitch so heavily sanded, it was decided to defer the official opening.
The good news - the pitch is now available to play on for informal use and for friendly games during the coming months.

ENGAge (TN22 clubs) and The Friends of St. Mark's School would like to thank everyone who supported their Village Quiz on Friday 14th July at the village hall. Thank you to people who bought tickets, who helped on the night and for donating raffle prizes. It was a fun evening with a competitive edge and we are delighted to announce that we made a profit of £953.00, with all proceeds being divided equally between both organisations. 


Dog Shows Cancelled

We have been informed that the Festival Dog Shows to be held at the Playing Field on July 16th & August 20th  have been cancelled by the organisers The Forest Vet due to high insurance costs.

Sunday 23rd. July  3-6 pm Hadlow Down Playing Field
Our intention is to start up a recreational stoolball club that will meet once a week; the evening to be decided by mutual consent. Those who wish to play a more competitive format are welcome to join Buxted Ladies Stoolball Team. With their kind assistance, we are going to be running an introductory training session followed by a fun game. Please dress in sports attire and sports shoes. Bats and balls will be provided. Match is Free of Charge. BBQ - £5 per adult/£2.50 per child participants and families. Squash and Tea & Coffee available from the Pavilion – no cost. Limited Car Parking - please walk to the field if you can. Limited wheelchair access – for spectators only. No disabled toilet faciltities. Ground is uneven. 'Beating the Bounds'
The first stage will start at 10am and thereafter approx every hour. Starting point – St. Mark’s Parish Church. The walk is an old tradition in which, historically the Rector of the Parish walked the parish boundary to bless the crops in early summer to ensure growth during the summer period. Rev. John Barker will complete the entire walk and asks that groups of people join him at various points along the way. The walk will be divided into manageable “chunks” approx. 2 - 3 miles, so children can join in as well. Free tea, coffee and light snacks available at the church throughout the day. Groups of people will be transported from the church to various points around the parish boundary and picked up again later on the route and returned to the church. Parking in School Lane. Parts of the boundary walk are on country lanes so wheelchair accessible. Walkers must be able to walk 2 miles. For safety reasons – groups will be 6 – 8 people per section of the walk. Shakespeare Rocks!

Aubrey, The Rough Shakespeare Company's pretentious director, obtains what appears to be William Shakespeare's lost diary. Along with Al, his down to earth assistant, the pair decide to embark on an exclusive adaption of the flamboyant Bard's personal journal.

"Shakespeare Rocks!" is a fresh, funny and up to date look at the life and times of William Shakespeare, with a cast of hilarious historical characters, amusing glimpses into some of his works and how he came 'To Be'
Spread the word... Shakespeare didn't just write... he rocked!
To be performed by the Y3-6 children of St. Mark's School,  Hadlow Down Village Hall, Wednesday 19th July 6.00pm Thursday 20th July, 1.30pm and 6.00pm
